Who is responsible
Riva Living, Zürich, Switzerland, is responsible for the personal data processed through this website. You can reach us at hello@rivaliving.ch.
What we collect
When you ask about a room, we collect your name, email address and, if you give them, your phone number, intended move-in date, the home and room you are interested in, and anything you write in the message field.
When you offer us a property, we collect your name, email address and, if you give them, your phone number, the address, type and size of the property, the number of rooms, the date it becomes free, your situation and your message.
With each form we also keep the language and the page you sent it from.
We do not use advertising or remarketing trackers on this site.
Why we use it
Solely to answer your enquiry, arrange a viewing and, if you decide to rent with us, prepare a contract. If you offer us a property, we use your details to assess it and contact you about it. We do not sell your details or pass them to third parties for their own marketing.
Where it is stored
Enquiries and property offers are stored in a Postgres database run by Supabase in Zürich, Switzerland.
Every enquiry and property offer also reaches us by email through Resend, an email service based in the United States. The site is served by Vercel, a hosting provider based in the United States, which serves the pages and processes your requests, including what you type into the forms, in order to deliver them, as well as technical data such as your IP address to block abuse.
To stop spam, our server keeps your IP address in memory for ten minutes after you send a form. It is not stored in the database.
When personal data goes to a country whose data protection the Swiss Federal Council has not recognised as adequate, we rely on the standard contractual clauses recognised by the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), as the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) requires.
Cookies and Google services
One cookie is necessary: riva_consent stores whether you accepted or rejected the optional Google services. It holds nothing else and expires after 12 months.
Two services are optional: Google Analytics 4, which counts page views and a few actions (sending a form, clicking our email address, opening a map or a route), and Google Maps, which shows where each home is. Both are provided by Google Ireland Limited, Dublin, Ireland, and Google LLC, Mountain View, United States. When they run, Google may set cookies (for Analytics, cookies whose names start with _ga) and receives technical data such as your IP address, your browser and the page you are on.
Nothing optional loads without your permission. Until you accept, your browser sends no request to Google: in place of each map there is a box with the address and a “Show map” button, which loads that one map on that page only and does not switch on Google Analytics. We have turned off Google signals and all advertising features. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses and keeps the data it collects for 2 months.
Google may transfer this data to the United States; for these transfers it relies on standard contractual clauses.
Your choice lasts 12 months. You can change it at any time with the “Cookies” link at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw your permission, we delete the cookies Google Analytics set on this site.
How long we keep it
Enquiries and property offers that do not lead to a contract are deleted once they are no longer needed, and at the latest after 12 months. Where a tenancy or a lease follows, the data moves into that file and is kept for as long as Swiss law requires.
Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), in force since 1 September 2023, you can ask us what we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to how we use it. Write to hello@rivaliving.ch and we will answer within 30 days.
If you think we handle your data unlawfully, you can contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) at www.edoeb.admin.ch.
